Have you heard of Niagara Falls in ENGLAND?

No, neither had I.

But this morning as sure as sunshine after the rain, a large waterfall was cascading through my home.

Outside it was torrential rain.

Inside it was a torrential waterfall.

It was not how I had planned my morning.

  • Fact 1. You cannot stop water that is determined to flow.
  • Fact 2. Life throws us challenges and problems to solve.
  • Fact 3. You get to choose how you react.

You could throw your hands in the air and think “why me” and flap about helplessly or let it ruin your day.

You could stand back and survey the scene and do nothing so the situation gets even worse.

You could take control, do your best to solve the problem (and it might take several attempts) but maintain a “can do, will do” mindset without it ruining your day.

  • Fact 4. It took me 4 attempts to find a way to prevent water from a broken gutter to stop pouring into our house this morning. I got wet-through trying. I missed a medical appointment. I was late for work.

The “fix” is only temporary until someone more qualified to deal with guttering can do a proper job. But a temporary fix is good enough until that time comes.

Career change for teachers

Sometimes a stepping-stone job is good enough to fix a bigger problem until the dream job can be achieved.

But standing around flapping or doing nothing at all will not solve your problem.

It doesn’t have to be perfect.

Just do your best.

But do something.

Professional

I first worked with Will whilst I was a junior member of a teaching team. I worked closely with him for around three years and he became a true mentor to me. During this time Will helped encourage me to discover my own leadership style and he mapped out what it takes to be successful. I highly recommend Will for life and career coaching.

Will is a professional, natural leader who manages to make you feel at ease. He manages to be both emphatic and encouraging, whilst also managing to challenge you to find your own answers. Will’s approach is totally non-judgmental and the sessions are really focused on you and on what you want to achieve. Working with Will has allowed me to address challenges I was facing and he brought a wealth of resources and practical tools to help me set goals, clarify my values, and explore avenues right away. Even though I left teaching 5 years ago, I still seek out Will for his help and guidance and I appreciate his versatility as a thought partner, ally, and coach. Our sessions are always productive and efficiently run, which is perfect for someone who is juggling many priorities! Will brings great communication, professionalism and quality to his work and I highly recommend him as a life/business coach.
