For those outside the education profession, right now teachers and school leaders are the envy because you are embracing the long 6-week summer holiday.
Yes, this is another example of teachers only working part time, eh?
Six weeks holiday is NOT spending your time with your head in the job.
As an education professional, I used to need a week to catch up on work overdue because there was never enough time to do everything expected; 2 weeks to get over sheer exhaustion; 1 week off to attempt to see family and friends; and then back to pre-term preparations again.
SIX WEEKS HOLIDAY? You must be joking!
Close your laptop, put work away and treat yourself to something you enjoy doing but never have the time for.
This is called having a LIFE.
Enjoy it.
Embrace it.
If you love your career in education, you will go back more refreshed as a result – which is great for everyone.
If you dread the new academic year ahead, you will get a flavour of what it feels like to have your life back and the headspace to make plans for alternative choices of career.
Either way, you win.
Make this day great.
